Georgia repatriation – after the deportation drama of two children: father in custody

At the end of January, a deportation drama involving two children in Georgia revealed the difference between the two worlds in government – the Greens were outraged and accused the ÖVP of inhumanity. Now the next upset: The father of the two girls is in custody on suspicion of organized crime.

As reported, it was not the corona pandemic that caused the first real coalition crisis, but the twelve-year-old Viennese high school student Tina and her little sister Lea (5) – both born in Austria. After the illegally entered Georgian mother’s applications for asylum had been legally rejected in all instances, the family finally had to leave the country.

Deportation moved the country and politics
Deportation by charter flight moved the country and politics. More than 15,000 people signed a petition from classmates, the Greens sharply criticized the deportation of well-integrated children and attacked the ÖVP head-on.

Father in the sights of the security authorities
The girls’ father, who works in Slovakia or has a residence permit there, also protested in front of the Vienna police detention center. Now he himself is in the sights: The domestic security authorities accuse him of membership in a criminal organization.

Among other things, it is about forgery of documents and the suspicion of extortion. Due to a court order, the father of the “deportation children” was arrested by investigators from the Federal Criminal Police Office on Tuesday.
