Gérald Darmanin visiting Algiers from Friday to Sunday


The Minister of the Interior must meet his Algerian counterpart to “discuss the subjects of cooperation in matters of security”.

Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin will travel to Algiers this Friday, December 16 afternoon until Sunday noon, with a private party during which he will go to where his grandfather was born. The Minister, who will be accompanied by his wife, will notably meet his Algerian counterpart during this trip to “broach the subjects of cooperation in the field of security, the fight against terrorism and in the field of migration“.

At the invitation of the Algerian authorities“, Gérald Darmanin will also go with his wife “in the Algerian desert where his grandfather was born“. The minister’s middle name is that of his maternal grandfather, Moussa. Moussa Ouakid was born in the douar of Ouled Ghalia. He was an Algerian rifleman and resistant in the French forces of the Interior (FFI) in 1944.
