HAS From this Tuesday, November 29, the President of the Republic will be in the United States on a State visit, that is to say that he will be welcomed there with great pomp, as provided for on this solemn occasion. Indeed, it is not only a question of a meeting between the two Heads of State but of a manifestation of the particular esteem that the host has for his visitor and for his country by surrounding this coming of all the external marks of respect that may be provided for in the protocol.

This is probably not the time to recall it, but, under Donald Trump, Emmanuel Macron already made a state visit to Washington in April 2018, where I had received him. I don’t think, unless I’m mistaken, that another head of state has ever benefited twice in four years from this attention from the president…
