Lepublicans emerge from the midterm elections not only disappointed with a mediocre result but divided. Trumpists and classic conservatives clash, with the latter blaming the former president for the failure. It is true that one and the other have never loved each other very much. Trump humiliated many with insults and public threats that they had to endure without flinching, as the leader of the right in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, often experienced at his expense.
