After saving the President of the United States in The Fall of the White House, saving the planet in Geostorm, surviving a cataclysm in Greenland and saving the passengers from a hostage situation in Mayday, Gerard Butler returns with a new action movie.
In Kandahar, he plays Tom Harris, a CIA secret agent who works in the Middle East. A leak of information reveals his identity. Stuck in hostile territory, Harris and his translator must navigate their way out of the desert to Kandahar, Afghanistan while evading the elite special forces chasing them.
This is the Scottish comedian’s third collaboration with director Ric Roman Waugh after The Fall of the President (2019) and Greenland – The Last Refuge (2020). After Kandahar, the two men will meet again for the sequels Night Has Fallen (fourth installment in the saga of The Fall of the White House) and Greenland: Migration.
In Kandahar, Gerard Butler plays opposite Navid Negahban (Homeland), Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Ali Fazal (Victoria & Abdul), Nina Toussaint-White (GameFace) and Iranian actress Elnaaz Norouzi. The film will soon be released in our theaters.
