Twice nominated for the César in 1987 and 2003, Gérard Darmon has never been rewarded with the slightest statuette. The actor pushes a rant against the ceremony which snubs him, according to him.
Gerard Darmon will he be in front of Canal+, Friday February 25 at 9 p.m., to follow the 47th Cesar ceremony? Nothing is less certain … In the columns of the last issue of Paris Match, the actor pushes an unexpected rant against this evening during which he was named twice in 1987 and 2003 for his supporting roles in 37°2 in the morning and Asterix and Obelix: Cleopatra mission. Two nominations but no awards. Which has the gift of annoying him.
“For Asterix, everyone wanted Jamal get it. But it was obvious that if we were two actors in the same film nominated in two different categories, he wouldn’t get it. And that’s what happened (…) When for Princes, by Tony Gatlif, they name the one who plays my wife, an Andalusian who has two and a half scenes, and that I have nothing at all, I have the balls. When in 1997, I played Le roman de Lulu at the theater with Sandrine Kiberlain, the play has eight Molières nominations. And nothing for me”laments Gérard Darmon who therefore also attacks the Molières ceremony.
Gérard Darmon: “I was said to be arrogant, aggressive with critics”
But why would Gérard Darmon be snubbed by the profession as he claims? The actor brings his answer in the columns of our colleagues. “I end up telling myself that the profession still sends me messages… My attitude towards the profession was badly perceived, I was said to be arrogant, aggressive with critics”, he believes. Not sure that his recent clash with journalist Edwy Plenel on the On est live set will help smooth his image. But does the actor who will soon celebrate his 74th birthday only want to?
