Gérard Depardieu indicted in December: the actor is accused of "rape" and "sexual assault": Femme Actuelle Le MAG

Gérard Depardieu is in turmoil. The 72-year-old actor was indicted on December 16, 2020 for "rape" and "sexual assault", following the filing of a complaint by an actress in her twenties, as a source close to the matter reported to theAFP Tuesday February 23, 2020. This information has been confirmed by a judicial source. Before this indictment, an investigation had been opened for acts allegedly committed August 7 and 13, 2018 at the comedian's home, a mansion located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. A few days after these two alleged sexual assaults, the young woman had filed a complaint with the gendarmerie of Lambesc (Bouches-du-Rhône).

Maître Hervé Témime, Gérard Depardieu's lawyer, reacted to the dissemination of this information, "deplore (ant) that (this) is made public". As for Gérard Depardieu, he "totally disputes the facts with which he is accused", as his defender clarified. The essential figure of the big screen has been left free without judicial review. According to a source close to the case, the interpreter of Cyrano de Bergerac would be family friend of the alleged victim. "There was absolutely nothing professional about it", confided this same source to our colleagues.

Relaunched investigations

After being dismissed on June 4, 2019 by the public prosecutor, the investigation had been entrusted to an examining magistrate with constitution of civil party, in mid-August 2020. A decision which followed a confrontation between Gérard Depardieu and the plaintiff, in the premises of the judicial police of Paris, according to a source close to the file relayed by the'AFP. For her part, Maître Élodie Tuaillon-Hibon, the complainant's lawyer, asked that "the privacy and privacy of (his) client is preserved".
