Gerda: A Flame in Winter, a release date for the RPG-lite set in World War II published by Dontnod

For the edition of his first game, Dontnod Entertainment did not choose the easy way: he collaborates with PortaPlay on Gerda: A Flame in Winter, a RPG narrative inspired by the Danish Resistance during the Second World War. The experience will invite us to explore different narrative branches according to our choices, discoveries and relationships, but also to develop our personality through a diary, while facing the horrors of the German invasion.

The title was unveiled during a Nintendo IndieWorld last December, it is now endowed witha release date. He will disembark September 1, 2022 on PC and Switch via Steam and theeShop.

When the snow stops falling, the small Danish village of Tinglev will never be the same. Walk in Gerda’s footsteps as her daily life is turned upside down by the occupation of her village in the middle of World War II. Choose where to go, how to act and who to trust in this intimate RPG-lite storytelling experience inspired by a true story. How far will you be willing to go to protect your loved ones?

Play as an unexpected heroine

Through a poignant story, you play as Gerda, a nurse who will have to arm herself with courage and determination when her life suddenly changes. A war story told, not on the front line, but in the intimate setting of the small Danish village where she lived all her life. Left to her own devices, Gerda will have to try everything to save her loved ones.

Take a stand

In times of war, every dilemma is a challenge and every decision can have dire consequences. Make your choices through a mix of exploration, dialog, and resource management. Every decision you make will be intimately tied to your personality traits in this unique RPG-lite narrative experience. True in-game skills, your relationships and how you interact with those around you will shape the narrative and influence the outcome of the story.
