“Dear Thomas” with Jella Haase gets nine Lolas

Andreas Kleinert’s “Dear Thomas” is the big winner at the German Film Awards. Lolas was able to secure the drama in nine categories

The German Film Prize was awarded on Friday evening in Berlin in front of countless German stars and a total of around 1,700 guests. The drama “Dear Thomas” by Andreas Kleinert (60) was successful in nine categories.

The work about the writer Thomas Brasch (1945-2001) was, among other things, for the direction of Kleinert, the screenplay and as best feature film with a Golden Lola excellent. In addition, Albrecht Schuch (36) and Jella Haase (29) were honored in the best male leading role and female supporting role. Haase was able to prevail against Anja Schneider (45) and Sandra Hüller (44), Schuch against Farba Dieng (29) and Franz Rogowski (36).

Meanwhile, the silver Lola went to “Rabiye Kurnaz vs. George W. Bush.” Meltem Kaptan (41) secured the award for best leading actress for her performance, Alexander Scheer (46) accepted the award for best male supporting actor. Scheer beat Henry Hübchen (75), Jörg Schüttauf (60) and Godehard Giese (49), Kaptan won against Saskia Rosendahl (28), Ursula Strauss (48) and Sara Fazilat (35).

The bronze Lola was able to secure “Great Freedom”. Other award winners include “The Path” for best children’s film and “The Other Side of the River” for best documentary.
