The Taliban rule Kabul – many people in Afghanistan are trying to get out of the country. In the middle is a German family. 19-year-old Samira *, high school graduate in Munich, her 12-year-old brother and her mother. They’ve been stuck for a week.
Now they are safe – taken out by the German special forces. On Sunday night, the Special Forces Command (KSK) prepared for a secret operation called “Blue Light”. This includes the rescue of the family from Munich. As «Bild» reports, the command worked its way from Kabul airport to the family’s location on foot.
After about an hour, the soldiers managed to contact Samira and her family and were brought to Kabul airport. The family was then flown to Tashkent (Uzbekistan).
“I still cry today”
When they arrived safely, Samira explains why they actually traveled to Afghanistan. They wanted to visit their grandmother before the Taliban marched on. But when the family wanted to return on their own, they were trapped – the Taliban forbade them to leave the country!
“Three of the men fired in the air as a warning. One of the Taliban then came up to us, rifle in hand, ”says Samira. “He waved the gun and told us to turn around. Otherwise he would shoot. Then the Taliban fired wildly into the air – panic broke out. I still cry today when I think back. ” Now the redemption followed. (What)
