The winners of the German TV Award 2020 have been determined. Out of a total of 93 nominations, 27 laureates were selected in the areas of entertainment, fiction and sports and will be honored as part of the 21st edition of the event.
The show "Das Sommerhaus der Stars" (RTL) has been chosen as the best reality format, "The Masked Singer" (ProSieben) wins the award as the best entertainment show. The "heute-show" (ZDF) has meanwhile stood for the best comedy in recent months. Barbara Schöneberger, Günther Jauch, Thomas Gottschalk and Thorsten Schorn make the race for "Because they don't know what's going on! The Jauch-Gottschalk-Schöneberger Show" (RTL) in "Best Moderation / Individual Performance Entertainment".
Pricing for fiction and reporting on sad reality
Under the "Fiction" tab you will find the winners for the best television film ("Are you happy?", ARD / HR), the best multi-part ("Price of Freedom", ZDF) and the best drama series ("The Pass ", Sky) and the best comedy series (" How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast) ", Netflix). The award for best actor goes to Joachim Król for "Endlich Witwer" (ZDF), Barbara Auer wins as best actress for "Preis der Freiheit" (ZDF). In the eyes of the jury, Isabel Kleefeld delivered the best directorial work with "Eine harte Tour" (ARD), for which Dominique Lorenz also received the award for the best screenplay.
In addition to a promotional award for science journalist Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim, there is also a special award for "Best Information" during the Corona outbreak and afterwards. Marcus Bornheim and Rainald Becker (ARD each), Michael Wulf (RTL), Sonja Schwetje (ntv), Stefan Vaupel (ProSieben), Jürgen Meschede (Sat.1) as well as Bettina Schausten and Katrin Helwich (ZDF each) are honored.
