Germans in mountain distress – missing equipment: hikers rescued with a helicopter

The police helicopter “Libelle” had to deploy to the Tyrolean Vomp (Schwaz district) on Sunday afternoon to rescue two alpinists in distress. The two Germans remained unhurt.

The two Germans (44 and 43 years old) planned to hike from the “Binsalm” to the “Lamsenjochhütte” on Whitsun Sunday. Shortly before 3 p.m. they had to cross a snowfield at about 1,500 meters above sea level. The men were uninjured. “Because the two did not feel they could manage this without accidents due to the lack of equipment, they called the emergency services,” said the police. The two hikers were then rescued uninjured by the crew of the police helicopter using a rope.
