Two trains of an attraction collided at the Legoland park, located in Günzburg (Bavaria), on the afternoon of Thursday August 11. 31 people were injured, one of them seriously, according to AFP.

A day of fun that turned tragic for visitors to the Legoland amusement park. On Thursday August 11, the Bavarian police announced that 31 people had been injured, including one seriously, in an accident that occurred within the grounds of the park, located in the municipality of Guenzburg, in Bavaria.

A first train hit the second

According to various local sources, including German press agencies, a collision between two roller coaster trains occurred: a first train, stationary, was hit by the second, which did not brake properly “for some reason indefinite,” Bavarian police said in a press release.

Ten children among the injured

Among the injured are ten children, a teenager and a 20-year-old, according to the same source. In total, sixteen people had to be hospitalized but no details were given on the condition of the seriously injured person. The intervention was complex for the emergency services because of the installations located at height.

The accident happened early Thursday afternoon. Bavaria’s amusement park is one of the best known in Germany, with its 64 attractions, including the “roller coaster” carousel for thrill seekers. Remained open despite the incident, the park finally closed its doors in the face of growing controversy on social networks.

This tragedy comes less than a week after a fatal accident in another German amusement park, located in Klotten, in the south-west of the country. A 57-year-old woman died, also in a roller coaster accident, when she fell off the ride.
