Germany: Industrial orders grow less than expected in February

(Reuters) – German industrial orders rose less than expected in February, indicating continued weak demand in the manufacturing sector.

New orders increased by 0.2% in February over one month, in data adjusted for seasonal and calendar variations, the Federal Statistics Office said on Friday.

Economists polled by Reuters had forecast an increase of 0.8%.

The revised data shows a monthly decline of 11.4% in January, compared to a decline of 11.3%.

The slowdown in Germany’s manufacturing sector, which accounts for about a fifth of the country’s economy, continued in March, according to the manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI).
