Jan-Marten Block is the winner of the 18th “DSDS” season. For jury newcomer Thomas Gottschalk one thing is certain: he will not be forgotten anytime soon.

Germany has found its superstar: Jan-Marten Block (25) was able to prevail against his competitors on Saturday evening. With his title “Never Not Try” he won the big “DSDS” live final in Duisburg. The trainee from Schleswig-Holstein received an impressive 33.38 percent of the audience votes and was happy about the 100,000 euro prize money and a contract with the Universal Music label.

The “cuddly bear” makes the race

After the four finalists performed together – Block, Karl Jeroboan (30), Kevin Jenewein (27) and Starian McCoy (19) sang “Giants” by Dermot Kennedy (29) – they each showed what they are made of.

For guest juror Thomas Gottschalk (70), who stepped in as a replacement for Dieter Bohlen (67), one thing was certain: Either way, finalist Block will certainly “not be forgotten”. “You are the living sympathizer. And you have so many options,” the entertainer praised the singer. Maite Kelly (41), who, together with Mike Singer (21), made up the jury for this year’s 18th season (also for TVNow), found similar words. She called Block a big “cuddly bear” with a star aura.
