"Deutschland sucht den Superstar" started its 18th season with lower ratings than in the past.

"Deutschland sucht den Superstar" started its 18th season on January 5th. However, interest in the casting show seems to be slowly declining. According to a statement from the broadcaster RTL, the market share among 14 to 59 year olds was 14.9 percent and among 14 to 49 year olds 16 percent. That corresponds to 2.32 million or 1.38 million people. A total of 3.25 million viewers tuned in.

This means that "DSDS" was still number one in both target groups, but this year the opening show did not break the 20 percent mark that had been exceeded in previous years. One reason for the drop in ratings could also be "Who steals the show from me", the new program by presenter Joko Winterscheidt (41) on ProSieben. According to the industry portal "DWDL", it got off to a strong start with a market share of 14.2 percent (1.87 million viewers) among 14 to 49 year olds.
