Germany pledges €200m aid for displaced, minister says

BERLIN (Reuters) – Germany will provide an additional 200 million euros to Ukraine, German Development Minister Svenja Schulze told news group Funke Media, adding that the funds would be allocated to aid programs for moved.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Chmyhal is due to travel to Berlin on Monday where he will meet German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

“I will speak with Prime Minister Denys Chmyhal to ask him how we can continue to support the Ukrainian government by taking care of the displaced,” explained Svenja Schulze.

“These funds aim to help displaced people in Ukraine so that they can meet their basic needs,” she added.

Some seven million people have been displaced in Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion on February 24, according to data published by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
