BERLIN (Reuters) – Germany’s Hamburg airport resumed operations on Monday after an interruption caused by a threat against a plane arriving from Tehran, a federal police spokesperson told Reuters.

Police searched a plane carrying 198 passengers from the Iranian capital earlier today, based on an emailed attack threat.

Police questioned the passengers, which is standard procedure when a threat is considered serious, the spokesperson told Reuters.

No takeoff or landing was possible during this operation because the airport firefighters were participating in the search, he explained.

This incident occurs on the first day of an informal meeting between the French and German governments in Hamburg, where President Emmanuel Macron and Chancellor Olaf Scholz are expected to attend.
