Germany: Slight slowdown in inflation in June

(CercleFinance.com) – Inflation at an annual rate slowed slightly in June in Germany, according to Destatis, which confirms its preliminary estimate of 7.6%, compared to an increase of 7.9% in May compared to same month in 2021.

‘The main reasons for the high inflation lie in the prices of energy products,’ explains Georg Thiel, who notes a slight downward impact of the nine-euro ticket and fuel discounts.

Month-on-month, German consumer prices rose 0.1%. On a harmonized basis according to European standards, annual and monthly price variations stood at +8.2% and -0.1% respectively in June.
