Germany-The number of unemployed increases in September with Ukrainian refugees

BERLIN, Sept 30 (Reuters) – Unemployment in Germany rose in September, official statistics showed on Friday, as Ukrainian refugees continued to enter the job market.

According to the Federal Labor Office, the number of jobless people rose by 14,000 in seasonally-adjusted data to 2.510 million in September, below analysts’ expectations polled by Reuters.

Without taking into account Ukrainian refugees in the country, the figures would have been much better, the institute said.

“The labor market remains broadly stable despite rising prices and fears of an energy shortage,” said Andrea Nahles, head of the office.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained stable at 5.5%. (Report by Miranda Murray; French version Dina Kartit, told by Kate Entringer)
