Germany: the rise of the ZEW index continues in January

(CercleFinance.com) – The ZEW economic climate indicator for Germany again recorded a slight increase in the current survey from January 2024. At 15.2 points, it is 2.4 points higher than the value from December 2023.

In contrast, the assessment of the economic situation in Germany remained virtually unchanged. The corresponding indicator lost 0.2 points and now stands at -77.3 points.

‘The economic outlook for Germany has improved again. Indeed, more than half of those surveyed now expect the ECB to cut interest rates during the first half of the year. The rise in inflation in Germany and the Eurozone in December therefore has no impact on the monetary policy expectations of the respondents,’ said Professor Achim Wambach, President of the ZEW, about the results of investigation.
