In the second episode of the new season of "Germany's Next Top Model", the girls are already under a lot of pressure.

The motto of the second episode of "Gemany's next top model" is: "Inner strength". This is exactly what some of the participants lack from the outside. Arrived in what, according to Heidi Klum (47), is "Berlin's largest shared flat for girls", the model mom checks the self-confidence of women directly on a single catwalk. She gives some model candidates the tip to found a joint loosening group – also known as the "stick in the ass" group.

Afterwards, Soulin (20) tells the others when they get to know each other that she fled Syria when she was eleven and that it wasn't always easy. "I had horror for a year, cried every day and was bullied," she tells the other girls. And: That it is therefore particularly in need of harmony. We'll come to that later. The young Ana (20) tries to improve her run criticized by Heidi. Ultimately, she unconsciously sums up the problem with the industry's unattainable ideals of beauty in front of the mirror in a small sentence: "Inside me is so much happiness and I am so happy – and then I look into my face."

The first shoot: It's all about the whole thing

The next morning, Heidi woke the models by video message, first very gently, then with increasing intensity until she yells: "Get up, it's okay!" The first big photo shoot is once again shot by Heidi's favorite photographer Rankin (54). And it's about the whole thing: the video sequences of the show's opener and the advertising images are shot. But if you want to go to the opener, you have to make an effort. There is no place for the "boring girls", as Heidi directly announces.

A few girls stand out at this baptism of fire: Romy (19) immediately catches the eye of Heidi and Rankin. "I'll tell you what Romy: It takes 23 girls to top that. You're a born model." Was that the biggest compliment of the season? However, Alex (23) also knows how to impress the experienced GNTM photographer: "Alex, you are a star! This is a potential winner, girls!" With Liliana (21), however, the mood is on the floor: "I want to cry", explains Rankin. It's good that after that comes Soulin, whose movements and legs make the photographer fall in love immediately.

No harmony for Soulin

Lively from the good feedback, Soulin then wants to talk to Liliana, with whom there had been a little drama before the shoot: After Soulin wanted to swear the group to harmony, Liliana dropped the tip: "Just you?" But whether this is the best time to want to argue with the bottom of the class as the best in class? Perhaps it is because the conversation quickly escalates again and Liliana decides on hard words: "Sometimes you forget that other people are still there. You are that kind of person, Soulin." Soulin immediately has to worry about her make-up again: "I don't want to cry again, guys."

In the evening on the couch, without make-up, it goes on. This time Liliana accuses Soulin of being "fake" – and not a minute later asks: "Are you crying again?" The two candidates still manage to clarify the matter for the time being. Soulin later noticed again negatively: The fact that she did not ask her competitor about her finger position during catwalk training at home, but agreed to the criticism in front of the jury, does not go down well with the group. Seems like the "problem child" of the season is fixed.

During the walk the next day, designer Marina Hoermanseder (35) comes by as a guest juror – and sees the girls in their own creations. This also harbors some potential for conflict. The 21-year-old Maria feels uncomfortable in her outfit because the cups on her breasts stick out too much: "I wanted to ask if it has to be like this?" A difficult situation for Hoermanseder: "If I'm planning a catwalk and casting models and someone says 'I don't like it', it quickly becomes an exclusion criterion for me."

And that's how it should turn out. The sometimes immobile outfits are more art than clothing and are particularly challenging for many girls. Some chafe their legs, others lose their shoes, some can only pace down the catwalk in mini-steps. Finally, there is a damning verdict for Maria: "She does not understand fashion, she is not a model," said Rankin. The designer thinks: "I thought Maria had no desire for this outfit." For Klum, too, the walk was "miles worse" than in the previous week. The spark hasn't jumped – and there is no photo with it.
