In round three of “Germany’s next top model” (also with Joyn) Heidi Klum (50) looked strong again. Never before has it been said so often as this week: “Someone has to leave us this round.” This time too, Heidi was supported in the selection by fashion icon Jean Paul Gaultier (71). However, even the fashion rebel could not prevent the literal fall of many a promising candidate. Because while most of the men still knew how to convince, the women stumbled in droves in their chances of winning the title.

“My heart sank into my bottom.”

Episode three began as episode two ended: with a shock for the models. Shortly before the first fashion show, Heidi had to admit her casting faux pas: “I was so euphoric yesterday that I chose too many.” The 24 girls and 30 boys had to be screened out again in a spontaneous catwalk in bathrobes. Candidate Luka (24) was stunned: “We thought, now we’ll practice for the show. And then the first thing is to not get kicked out.” Or as Marcia (23) summarized it: “My heart has slipped into my bottom.” Bundle of nerves Lucas (24) suspected because of the numerical imbalance: “More men are flying out than women.” Really?

“From Peasant to Princess”

Before the spontaneous walk, fashion grandmaster Gaultier made it clear once again what he imagines a popular model to be: “Not a ‘clone’ who looks like everyone else, but an independent personality.” On the catwalk, the candidates should move as much as possible “like on the street” – naturally and confidently. Many people did this very well, some not so well. Business economist Jana (24), who described herself as a “bloody beginner,” was not the only one who seemed “a little stiff,” according to Heidi. Long-term doubter and aspiring teacher Xenia (23), on the other hand, was able to convince against her own expectations. Her conclusion: “My journey from farmer to princess can continue.” Of their colleagues, Nikita, Greta and Vivien did not make it to the next round. For the men, Fadi, Khalid, David, Niel and Michael had to make the unexpected journey home.

“He reminds me of Markus Schenkenberg”

Among the male models, some talents particularly stood out during the spontaneous walk. Armin (27) could end up far ahead. During his walk, Heidi thought of a male supermodel of days gone by: “He reminds me of Markus Schenkenberg.” Akim (24) also knew how to convince. Jean Paul Gaultier not only praised his walk, but also his own bathrobe creation: “Germany twelve points!” Maximilian (21) from Vienna and the identical twins Julian and Luka (both 24) also delivered very professional performances. They can also be counted among the favorites. And the mega-masculine Pitzi (33) was given the honor of opening the show.

“In that second I was like, ‘Poop! Literally'”

During the fitting, the participants in the big fashion show wrapped themselves in transparent, glittering looks by Berlin designer Jasmin Erbas (38). She has already dressed stars like Madonna and Paris Hilton. But one quintessentially feminine accessory played particularly tricks on the female models: high heels became a tripping hazard. Rows of candidates had walking problems in front of many designers and celebrities. Jana suffered the worst of it: at the end of the runway she swayed and fell. The exalted Mare (22) from Tegernsee in Bavaria suffered a heel mishap even before she got off the catwalk: competitor Fabienne tore Mare’s dress with her heels – without apology. Mare about the incident: “In that second I just thought to myself: ‘Shit! Literally.'”

“My boys rock it!”

A similar mishap to Mare happened to Lucas on the catwalk. His metal outfit showed signs of disintegrating and gradually exposed his backside. Model mom Heidi was still more than proud of her male models: “My boys rock it!” she exclaimed during the show. And she was clearly looking forward to the famous makeover for some of the candidates – for example with Armin: “I want to cut off his hair completely.” Overall, the aspiring top models left professionals on the edge of the runway such as the Lochmann twins (24) and designer Kilian Kerner (39) excited and looking forward to more.

After the show, Heidi and Jean Paul Gaultier had to make another difficult decision: Who will take the next step, for whom will the top model journey end? The show is over for Djoss and Ellen-Sofie among the women and Noel, Jason, Luca, flight attendant Niklas and, to everyone’s surprise, Akim too. Everyone else can look forward to further adventures and challenges in Tenerife.
