New looks, Zoff in the model loft and a star guest
The dreaded "GNTM" makeover causes panic among the models.

In episode five of "Germany's Next Top Model" it was time to make a makeover. Not only the new looks caused frustration and tears.
In episode five of this year's season of "Germany's Next Top Model", the big makeover was on. Unlike in previous years, however, not all candidates got a new look. But one thing stayed the same: The styling decisions of model mom Heidi Klum (47, "Wonderland") and her team did not trigger storms of enthusiasm among all girls in 2021 either.
Right at the beginning it got scary for the remaining young models. Dramatic video clips from previous years set the mood for the dreaded makeover. Then Heidi Klum personally announced a surprise: Only 13 of the girls had to go to the hairdresser. "For everyone else, the makeover will be canceled this time." Just as great as the dismay for some was the joy for the others. 20-year-old Chanel even shed a few tears out of sheer relief. "Six of them already have the perfect look," said Klum.
Short hair for Mareike, Pumuckl-Bob for Romina
The makeover candidates were from then on fear of a short hairstyle – or even a bald head. "I'm afraid that I will look ugly and fat", said Dasha (20). Under the eyes of the six spared girls, who were watching live video, Amina (21) started to tear after the first use of the scissors. After the arrival of Heidi Klum and star hairdresser Wendy Iles, who was already allowed to lend a hand with stars such as actress Marion Cotillard (45, "Inception") and singer Jennifer Lopez (51, "Hustlers"), Mareike (25 ) down to business.
The university graduate was given a radical short hairstyle and compared cutting her hair with a "knee operation". Nevertheless, she remained calm: "When it's off, it's off. What should I do?" The red-haired Alysha (19) also had to say goodbye to her long mane and the 20-year-old Ana was no longer brunette after the makeover, but blonde – and disappointed: "You can say a thousand lovely words to me, but that doesn't do me any good either. " In addition to her, Larissa's (22) previously brown hair was also bleached.
The change in Romina (21) was also drastic. Unlike some of her fellow candidates, the Cologne-based woman was thrilled with her new orange-red long bob at the beginning – although for a short time she had doubts and asked herself: "What have you just been doing here?" Nevertheless, she trusted her mentor: "I think Heidi has an idea of what she is doing." In the end, however, Romina couldn't really make friends with her new look and bitter tears flowed. "I mourn the old self a little," she later explained.
Linda about Soulin: "I don't think much of her"
In addition to the makeover, the girls themselves caused a stir in episode five. In the model loft, there was a solid argument between Chanel and Liliana (21), in which some swearwords fell. In the end, however, the two of them were able to settle their quarrel and agree on clear communication rules – unlike Linda (20) and Soulin (20). The former had started an argument because her fellow candidate had brought her to sleep with her loud speech. "What should I say to that? I don't think much of her," said Linda, commenting on the confused situation.
Before the big decision at the end of the show, the top model contenders had to take to the catwalk in the creations of designer Christian Cowan. In front of the examining eyes of the guest juror, Soulin and Mareike were given the great honor of opening and closing the presentation. All the young models were photographed by star photographer Mato Johannik at the end of their walk.
A candidate has to pack the suitcase
In the challenging double challenge, Mareike was surprisingly unable to convince in the end – despite her new look. Fashion designers Cowan and Heidi Klum judged that their walk was too little feminine and too "choppy". Thanks to her successful photo, the 25-year-old got one round. Unlike Amina. In spite of the makeover, with which she could not make friends until the end, her performance was not enough to make it one round at "GNTM".
