Probably the most bizarre “GNTM” episode of all time: First we cry in the Späti, then dance in the club – and all with comedy legend Otto Waalkes!

Otto Waalkes (72, “Otto – Der Film”) at “Germany’s Next Top Model” (April 8, 8:15 pm, ProSieben) – how did it come about? The comedy legend tries to remember in an interview with ProSieben: “I think that was at the airport, where we had to wait for a plane – until Heidi finally asked me if I could contribute something to the seriousness of her show. ” Of course he could. And made the Berlin edition of “GNTM” one of the most bizarre episodes in the history of the casting show.

The first challenge for the girls is to think of the role of “Berlin party people” and to prove their acting talents with a video shoot in a Späti. In doing so, they must not allow themselves to be disturbed by the Späti salesman, who of course is played by Otto. But only Dasha (20), who is the first to turn, is surprised.

She has to play the desperate girl who just saw her ex with his new girlfriend. Although Otto plays her a funny little song on the guitar, she stays in her role, throws herself on the floor, cries and screams and finally picks up the guitar herself. The photographer and Heidi find it hard to resist laughing at this passionate performance and Otto is very proud afterwards: “Dasha played my guitar!”

Romy goes voluntarily

A real drama is taking place behind the scenes: Romy (19) has decided to leave the show after ten weeks. The news makes Liliana (21) really sad – which in turn is good for her role. She cries sincerely and heartbreakingly, but improvises a pretty good joke during Otto’s vocal performance: “That was always his favorite song!”

When Romy finally announced her departure, Heidi Klum (47) was also sad: “She was one of my favorites …” Only eleven girls are fighting for the title. And “fight” in the truest sense of the word. The otherwise shy Ashley (22) gets really angry at her performance and doesn’t even let Otto speak: “Now don’t come to me with a song!” “I was briefly afraid for my life,” said the intimidated comedian afterwards. On the second take, Ashley can’t really balance anger and fun either.

But she can tear it out again – at a casting for Opel, she convinces the Marketing Director for Germany and the designer Marcel Ostertag (42) of herself. Five of the girls have the chance to prove in front of the camera in thirty seconds that they fit the motto “courageous, clear and extraordinary”. Ashley touches the jury with her personal story: As a refugee African, her father did not have an easy life in Germany in the nineties. The first car he could afford was an Opel, with which Ashley still associates childhood memories to this day. Her appearance convinced the customer, and she also mastered the subsequent shoot with flying colors: “We are totally happy, Ashley, you implemented everything exactly as we imagined.”

Otto is no longer amazed

The next day, the girls immerse themselves in a completely different world: Berlin’s dark nightlife. They are dressed by capital city designer Esther Perbandt (46), who makes particularly extravagant fashion in Berghain style. The looks are correspondingly extreme: lacquer, tulle, leather, silk, of course everything in black. In addition, strict braids, black lips, bandaged heads and white eyebrows. A little too much extravagance for one or the other: “The eyebrows are my sacred place!”, Soulin fears bleaching, for example.

But if you currently have the chance to dance in a club, you don’t complain! Heidi also reminds her girls of this: “I think you are the only girls in Germany that have been able to sniff the right club atmosphere!” With a live DJ and laser show, the participants finally freak out to the music together. This time the walk begins as a dance floor from which one repeatedly climbs the catwalk and poses in front of Heidi and guest juror Otto. And the interplay of light show, hard music, funky styling and the general abstinence from party seem to be contagious: both Heidi and Otto hardly stay in their seats.

A whole new world opens up, especially for the comedian: “Absolutely amazing!”, “They’re having fun!”, “Wow!” he comes out of the amazement at the versatility of the girls no longer at all. Otto is so enthusiastic that he can’t say anything bad at all: “Well, everyone convinced me, I thought they were all insane!” His honest enthusiasm also breaks through Heidi’s stern expression during the evaluation discussions at the end. Whether it was Otto’s joy, Romy’s voluntary departure or the fact that everyone could finally let off steam again: In this episode, no girl has to leave. Party!
