Getlink falls after surprise Eurostar strike

(AOF) – Getlink lost 3.32% to 16.25 euros after trains and shuttles transporting cars and trucks were blocked since midday and until further notice due to an unexpected strike by employees of the company managing the Channel Tunnel. “The union organizations rejected the exceptional bonus of 1,000 euros announced at the end of the year by management and called for a strike to demand a tripling of it”, prompting “the complete interruption of the service and the closure of our terminals in France and in the United Kingdom,” says management in a press release cited by AFP.

“The blocking of the Channel Tunnel is unacceptable,” declared the Minister responsible for Transport, Clément Beaune, on the X network, formerly Twitter. “A solution must be found immediately”, “I am committed to it”, he adds. “I call on everyone to be responsible, to ensure traffic and vacation departures in good conditions.”
