Ghislaine Maxwell: why her trial could be canceled?

While she was recently found guilty of sex trafficking, Ghislaine Maxwell sees her trial take an astonishing turn since her lawyers have pinned down the fact that three, even four jurors could have lied about the sexual assaults they allegedly suffered.

The trial of Ghislaine Maxwell, found guilty last December for sex trafficking of minors, may well be quashed because of jurors allegedly lying about their abuse during deliberations. His lawyers, in any case, demand the opening of a new trial, arguing in particular on the grounds that one of the jurors would thus have influenced the entire jury talking about the sexual assault he suffered. They claim to have got their hands, in total, on three jurors who could have lied about the abuses of which they would have been victims.

As reported by Daily Mail, on January 8, the conviction of Ghislaine Maxwell remains pending. Juror number 50, Scotty David, has acknowledged having “hovered over” a questionnaire that was sent to him before the trial of one who was very close to Jeffrey Epstein. He allegedly indicated that he did not remember being questioned on this famous form which concerned his experience with sexual assault. So he claimed to have put forward his past in an attempt to influence the other jurors. To ensure his defense, this 35-year-old man has already hired a lawyer, as noted by our Anglo-Saxon colleagues. He could be jailed if it is proven that he intentionally lied.

A sentence that could go up to 35 years in prison

For its part, Ghislaine Maxwell’s legal team would also be interested in a possible fourth juror who could also have lied in his application to join the jury. What to question their bias in this case. As a reminder, the 60-year-old socialite, who was recently left by phone by her husband, was convicted on December 29 of five sex crimes on the six charges against her. She therefore risks several years in prison and more precisely up to 35 years.
