Halloween is coming early for some Apple Watch users. A strange “ghost touch” issue causes watches to make calls, swipe screens, and even prevent users from entering their password – all without the screen being touched.
In a recent memo to authorized Apple retail outlets, the company explained that some customers using the Apple Watch Series 9 or Apple Watch Ultra 2 were experiencing false touches on their screens. This issue, according to the note, causes the screen to jump or behave erratically without any user intervention.
Since the screen receives random inputs, this can lead to annoyances such as embarrassing situations like calls being made accidentally, or even users getting completely locked out because they can’t enter their password.

The memo, according to MacRumors, instructs technicians not to attempt a repair until the company has investigated. In the meantime, just perform a hard reset, or hold the crown and side button simultaneously for 10 seconds until the Apple logo disappears, to temporarily resolve the issue.
