Many fans experience the dematerialization of music as a tragedy: no more albums to collect, no more booklets to lovingly peruse… Unless they opt for iiconi’s connected albums!

Until December 24, Clubic opens a sound box for you every day advent calendar 2022 : the opportunity to discover unusual or practical gadgets, gift ideas for oneself or for loved ones.

How to collect music at a time when it is dematerialized? By creating playlists? Why not, but it’s not really satisfying for a hardcore collector. The ideal would be to rematerialize it while leaving its immaterial aspect. A bit like “Schrödinger’s cat”, in short…

Inspired by phygital

Aymeric Béguin had a brilliant idea. This music fan, who himself witnessed the disappearance of the physical medium (he worked successively at Warner and Universal) wondered for a long time how to solve this problem. For this, he was inspired by phygital, a concept currently very popular among marketing directors.

The word “phygital” is the contraction of “physical” and “digital”. This neologism designates a physical point of sale that includes the data and methods of the digital world. In other words, when you scan a flash code in a store to learn more about a product, you’re indulging in the simple joys of phygital. A bit like Monsieur Jourdain who wrote prose without knowing it, in short!

iiconi offers beautiful frames that take up the visuals and format of a vinyl album. The object is made of a good quality plastic, covered with a shiny resin of the most beautiful effect. Each series is printed in 1,000 numbered pieces. You can choose to hang it on the wall or place it on a piece of furniture using the removable foot provided.

A discreet NFC symbol is on the upper edge. In order to take advantage of it, it will be necessary to install the iiconi application, create an account, then scan it. You will then have the possibility to download one or more albums (without DRM, it is always appreciable) and other multimedia contents.

Exclusive content

Better still: the application gives access to videos, photos, texts written by specialized journalists as well as a podcast. The set is exclusive to iiconi, proves to be fascinating and is regularly enriched according to the news of the artists.

iiconi currently offers 18 connected albums, ranging from jazzy Elevator to the Gallows from Miles Davis to the very stirring Lady Gaga through the albums Born this way and Chromatica.

French artists are particularly well represented: Georges Brassens (the complete Time doesn’t matter), Benjamin Biolay (Grand Prize), MC Solar (Who sows the wind reaps the tempo), Serge Gainsbourg (Melody Nelson’s Story), NTM (Supreme NTM) and the inevitable Johnny Halliday (SympHonic Act I & II) are in the game.

This quality and devilishly eclectic selection would not be complete without Maria Callas, represented by two albums (The complete studio recordings and Maria Callas sings Verdi arias). As long as you are a fan of one of the artists on offer, iiconi’s connected discs are a marvel to listen to or to give as a gift. We spent hours exploring those of Christophe, Serge Gainsbourg and MC Solaar.

The content is easily accessible thanks to a very simple interface, and we were even able to watch the videos on a television thanks to the AirPlay / Chromecast compatibility of the application. But iiconi does not intend to stop there. The start-up is beginning to forge partnerships with exhibitions and cultural venues in order to offer a relevant complement to a visit. This is for example the case of the Goldorak XperienZ exhibition and the very photogenic Guimet museum, of which a virtual visit is offered.

Sold between 59.90 and 199.90 euros, iiconi’s connected albums are therefore an excellent gift to offer to a loved one… or to treat yourself!

Find our selection of the Advent calendar!

For the fourth consecutive year, Clubic is happy to offer you its Advent calendar.

We have selected for you products that are often unusual, sometimes amusing, but always original and which seem to us worthy of interest for any geek and his entourage. As in previous years, they have all passed through our hands, without exception. We have used them and loved them. Otherwise, we would not present them to you.

And for more unusual gift ideas, we remind you that the 2019, 2020 and 2021 Advent calendars are still online!

  • 1er December: Paper Shoot is a camera as simple as it is attractive. With him, you will (re)discover photography without frills!
  • December 2: Using a 360° camera to produce “flat” footage has many advantages. You do not believe in it ? It’s that you haven’t seen the Insta360 X3…
  • December 3: do you like wild animals and unicorns? Then, the polygonal creations of Papertrophy will keep you busy during the long winter evenings…
  • December 4: Limbo is a spinning top that spins nonstop for hours. Surely this is hiding something…
  • December 5: with GB Operator, GameBoy game cartridges can now be used on a computer… which will not help the productivity of some people.
  • December 6: two London cyclists with no sense of direction created Velo 2, a smart gadget halfway between GPS and compass.
  • December 7: the Eiffel Tower, a rollercoaster and an Atari console in LEGO, would you like it? At Clubic, we loved them.
  • December 8: the start-up Ellipse markets the E1, its first electric city bike. And it’s worth it (if you live in town).
  • December 9: better than a terrarium, EcoSphere will bring a little more life to your home.
  • December 10: retrogaming is good… But with Picade, it’s even better, especially if you’re a handyman…
  • December 11: Kluster is a board game with very simple rules. Which does not prevent it from being diabolical!
