According to unanimous media reports, Gigi Hadid has been arrested. The reason for her arrest at the Cayman Islands airport: drug possession.

A relaxing holiday in paradise was created for Gigi Hadid, 28, to the nightmare. The model was reportedly arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after she flew from the US to the Cayman Islands last week. This was initially reported by the local newspaper “Cayman Marl Road”.

Accordingly, the mother of a daughter landed on July 10, 2023 with a private jet at Owen Roberts International Airport. Customs and border control officers scanned her luggage and found a small amount of weed and smoking paraphernalia. Despite the small amount, which was for personal use only, Gigi Hadid and her companion, friend Leah Nicole McCarthy, 29, were reportedly arrested for importing marijuana and cannabis-use paraphernalia.

The two women were taken to the penitentiary for questioning and eventually released on bail, it said. Both Hadid and her friend pleaded guilty in summary court on July 12 and were fined $1,000.

Gigi Hadid’s lawyer makes statement

“Gigi was traveling with marijuana that she had legally acquired in New York with a medical license,” Hadid’s rep said in a statement to E! News. “It’s also been legal in Grand Cayman for medical use since 2017. Her record stays clean and she’s enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.”
