Gims denounced in a post on Instagram the categories of awards for the Victoires de la Musique, broadcast on France 2. The star called for the lines to be moved.
Does rap have its place on the music scene? For gims, things have to change. The singer posted a message on his Instagram story to denounce the image of rap music in French society. Each year, France 2 broadcasts the Victoires de la Musique ceremony which rewards those who have marked the musical year. Categories to reward The male and female artist, the Male and female Revelation, the Album, the Original Song, the Audiovisual Creation or even the concert of the year. But for gimsrap is not accepted in any category “generalist”returned only to the style “urban”.
The interpreter of best life with naps said : “We are put into categories. When we talk about urban album of the year, it’s like saying ‘it’s the sub-album of the year’, it is pejorative. We have to stop with that.“ The star added: “There are different styles of music, pop, rock, rap… but when there are contests like that, you can’t win the album of the year on one side and the urban album of the year of the other, pointed the finger again gims. Gims mobilizes “for culture”
So to deal with this absence of rap in the award ceremonies, gims wishes to launch its own concept. “I want to organize my Victoires de la Musique, he said with determination. I make a call for tenders directly I address myself to French billionaires. For culture.”
