Yesterday fierce critic of Brussels, Giorgia Meloni made the agreement with Europe, where she made her first visit abroad at the beginning of November, one of her priorities. By receiving this Monday in Rome Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, the Italian leader intended to assert her positions. As she reminded her ambassadors, “Europe remains one of the cornerstones of Italy’s foreign policy” in which Rome intends to play a leading role. Because, she said on the eve of the European Council in mid-December, “rather than having more Europe in Italy, our goal is to have more Italy in Europe, as befits a great founding nation.”
For this, Giorgia Meloni is campaigning after the European elections of 2024 for a rapprochement of conservative groups to achieve reform in Europe at her hand. It has already had some successes, even if most of them are due to the action of its predecessor…
