(sda) Stefan Bissegger loses the red leader’s jersey at the UAE Tour. One day after his victory in the time trial, the 23-year-old from Thurgau cannot keep up with the best on the difficult fourth stage.

Tour de France champion Tadej Pogacar took the stage win and overall lead. The Slovenian won the sprint after 181 kilometers at the mountain finish in Jebel Jais, the highest point of the tour in the United Arab Emirates, in front of the British Adam Yates and the Russian Alexander Vlasov.

Bissegger lost touch on the final climb and fell out of the top ten in the overall standings. Pogacar is now two seconds ahead of Italian Filippo Ganna and 13 seconds ahead of Vlasov.

Barely a week after the much-discussed relegation from 3rd to 4th place in the ski cross finals of the Olympic Games, Smith thanked her for the support she had received from many people. It was an emotional and exhausting day, wrote the 29-year-old, whose appeal against the jury’s decision is still pending.

In the World Cup, Smith no longer has any real chances of a fourth overall victory. Swede Sandra Näslund dominates the season.

(sda) SC Bern is loaning its striker Cory Conacher to league rivals Ambri-Piotta until the end of the season. The 32-year-old Canadian played 36 games this season and scored 20 points.

SC Bern said the transfer was a financial necessity. This was the only way that the required defender, Canadian Cody Goloubef, could be signed at the end of last week. Ambri is the direct competitor of the Bernese in the National League for the last place in the pre-play-offs.

Josi got his first win with the Nashville Predators after four straight losses. The captain scored mid-game to make it 2-2 and had an assist in the 55th minute as the Predators took a 5-4 lead for the first time through Mikael Granlund. Josi has 53 scorer points after 49 games this season, ten of which he has scored in the last six games.

Kevin Fiala was the Minnesota Wild’s top player in the 3-4 in Ottawa. The St. Galler scored his 17th goal of the season to make it 1:2 in the 27th minute and shortly afterwards prepared the 2:2 with a liberation from his own third.

Timo Meier was able to book two assists in his neck-and-neck race with Josi and now has 52 scorer points this season. With the San Jose Sharks, the Appenzeller lost the California duel with the Anaheim Ducks 3:4 after penalties.

(sda) Juventus can’t get past a 1-1 draw at Villarreal in the Champions League round of 16 first leg. Chelsea, meanwhile, have no trouble beating Lille 2-0.

The game could not have started any better for Juventus Turin. Dusan Vlahovic needed just 32 seconds for his first goal in the premier class in Juventus dress. The 22-year-old Serb, who came from Fiorentina for around 75 million euros during the winter break, scored in the far corner of the goal with a shot that was well worth seeing.

As a result, the Italian record champion practiced one of his favorite disciplines, managing a lead. With the exception of a shot by Alvaro Morata, the game had few chances for a long time. And in the 66th minute, Massimiliano Allegri’s men were punished for not being more consistent in their search for a second goal. Etienne Capoue duped Torino’s defense with a surprising pass behind the defence. Daniel Parejo safely defeated Juventus goalie Wojciech Szczesny and let the Young Boys’ former group opponents celebrate.

As a result, Villarreal goalie Geronimo Rulli made a strong save against Vlahovic in the 85th minute and held on to the tie. Juventus, who saw Denis Zakaria make his Champions League debut for the Italians in the 81st minute, will need to improve in the second leg in three weeks’ time if they don’t want to be knocked out in the last two seasons.

Lille not a yardstick

Chelsea have created a good starting position for the second leg. The defending champion posed problems for the French champions Lille with his fast-paced game. And Kai Havertz put the winner of the Club World Cup in front with a powerful header. As a result, the Londoners were game-determining. And ice cold in taking advantage of opportunities. Christian Pulisic confidently completed a counterattack initiated by N’Golo Kanté.

ZSC Lions – train 2:5 (1:1, 0:1, 1:3). – 8044 spectators. – 2. Zehnder (district, Senteler) 0:1. 8. Baltisberger (Noreau) 1-1. 40. Hansson (Bachofner, Kovar) 1: 2. 44. Bodenmann 2:5. – After a mixed performance, the ZSC Lions clearly lost their first serious fight after the Olympic break against champion Zug.

This is how the game went: Without the suspended team leader and national striker Sven Andrighetto, the ZSC Lions suffered a sensitive defeat in their first appearance since January 22nd. In the first home game after the corona measures were lifted, the Hallenstadion was well filled, but the 8044 spectators did not mean a season record.

Whoever came saw an unusually error-prone ZSC, who was punished in cold blood by an efficient opponent for his shortcomings and, above all, a miserable middle third. The decision came after 43 minutes when striker Denis Malgin, who had just returned from Beijing, only offered to escort Reto Suri from Zug, who was outnumbered.

For once, Zurich could not rely on Czech goalkeeper Jakub Kovar. Kovar put on his weakest performance since joining ZSC in December. After conceding the fifth goal, he was replaced by Ludovic Waeber twelve minutes before the end.

Kovar’s brother Jan, who stormed for Zug and is an exceptional talent of the very first order, managed three assists; he helped keep ZSC at a distance in the table. The Zurich team will next compete against Davos on Friday and against the bottom of the table, Ajoie, on Saturday. (nbr.)

Results from Tuesday: Lausanne 3-2 Ambri-Piotta (0-1, 1-1, 2-0). ZSC Lions – train 2:5 (1:1, 0:1, 1:3). Davos – Geneva/Servette 1: 2 (0: 1, 1: 1, 0: 0).
