Microsoft GitHub’s Copilot programming service is available to all developers on June 21. The service costs $10 per user per month or $100 per user per year. Microsoft first launched GitHub Copilot last year.
GitHub Copilot suggests code to developers directly in their editors, with artificial intelligence acting as a pair programming assistant. Suggestions are meant to match the context and style conventions of a project and let developers know what to accept, reject, or change.
GitHub Copilot works with many languages
GitHub Copilot is a Visual Studio Code extension and back-end service. It works with a variety of frameworks and languages. Microsoft executives said the tech preview shown earlier worked especially well with Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Ruby, and Go, but many other languages ​​as well.
Microsoft and OpenAI collaborated to build GitHub Copilot, which is based on OpenAI’s Codex. Codex is a model trained on billions of lines of publicly available source code – including code in public repositories on GitHub – and on natural language, which means it can understand both programming and human languages. .
In addition to the two paid plans, Microsoft offers a 60-day free trial of GitHub Copilot. The company also makes GitHub Copilot free for verified students and maintainers of popular open source projects. Microsoft wants to start offering GitHub Copilot to enterprises later this year.
