Glass Onion on Netflix: is a third film at Knives Out planned?

After Knives Out, Rian Johnson continues the adventures of detective Benoît Blanc (Daniel Craig) with his Glass Onion sequel, which is a hit on Netflix. Is a third film planned?

Available on Netflix, Glass Onion is the sequel to the detective comedy Knives Out, which was a great success at the cinema in 2019. We find the private detective Benoît Blanc, imagined by Rian Johnson and played by Daniel Craig, in a new destination for a mind-blowing investigation.

Direction Greece, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, where the extravagant billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton), very influential in the scientific community, invites several friends for a stay on his private island for a “murder party”, featuring scene of his own murder.

His longtime friends will have to solve his murder, knowing that they all have a good reason for wanting him dead. But a real death will upset the game and Benoît Blanc will lead the investigation, which promises to be more complicated than expected.

A third film At Knives Out planned?

Like the first Knives Out movie, Glass Onion is a big hit on Netflix. The suite, carried by Daniel Craig, Janelle Monáe, Edward Norton, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, Madelyn Cline, Jessica Henwick and Dave Bautista, but also sacred surprise guests, quickly rose to the head of the top views.

Something to reassure the platform, which spent no less than $400 million to acquire the rights to this sequel… and a third film! Indeed, Knives Out is now considered a franchise and a third feature film has already been confirmed.

But we will have to wait before knowing more about the third film. As he explained to us, screenwriter and director Rian Johnson needs a break before looking into this new feature film:

“I’m already thinking about ideas. Really, if we worked on a second film with Daniel, it’s because we have so much fun on these stories, and we don’t just redo what was done before.

Glass Onion is totally different from the first one. The third will be totally different from the first two. That’s what makes the job exciting. It’s a new challenge every time. So, yes, I’m already starting to come up with ideas, but I need a little break. And then I’ll get to it.”

One thing is certain: Daniel Craig will be there since he plays the hero, the private detective Benoît Blanc. He will surely be surrounded by a whole new cast, but we hope that Hugh Grant, who plays Philip, White’s companion, will make a new appearance.

Glass Onion: A Tale of Knives Out is available on Netflix.
