Even though it’s technically a sequel to Knives Out, director Rian Johnson isn’t happy with the full title of Glass Onion, available on Netflix.
At the top of the top viewings, Glass Onion is a hit on Netflix. The return of Benoit Blanc was eagerly awaited and the new investigation of the detective played by Daniel Craig fascinated the crowds.
In this sequel to Knives Out by Rian Johnson, the crazy character must solve a murder case that wreaks havoc among a group of friends embodied by a prestigious cast: Janelle Monáe, Edward Norton, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, Madelyn Cline, Jessica Henwick and Dave Bautista.
In addition to its colorful characters, Glass Onion is also full of surprise guests who participate in the success of this sequel. The franchise imagined by Rian Johnson therefore has a bright future ahead of it.
Rian Johnson is not a fan of the title
However, there is a detail that irritated the screenwriter and director, and not the least. He revealed during an interview for The Atlantic that he didn’t like the full title of the film which is “Glass Onion: A Tale at Daggers Drawn Story”.

Rian Johnson didn’t want “Knives Out”, which is the title of the first movie, attached to the title of the second:
“I tried really hard to make these movies self-contained. Honestly, I’m pissed that we have ‘Knives Out’ in the title. I want it to just be called Glass Onion.
I get it, and I want everyone who loved the first movie to know that this is the next in the franchise. But what matters to me is that it’s a new novel out of the box every time. Except it’s all about serialized storytelling these days.”
The director will have to make up his mind since it is a strategy on the part of Netflix, which spent no less than 400 million dollars to acquire the rights to the two sequels of Knives Out.
The third feature film, on which Rian Johnson will soon be looking, will surely also have the subtitle “A story at loggerheads”, so that the public can clearly identify it as belonging to the franchise.
