Glenn Close would certainly be a little more pleased about one of the two prizes.

Is Glenn Close's performance on "Hillbilly Elegy" the best or worst of the year? An Oscar and a raspberry beckon.

Since the nominations for this year's Oscars were officially announced on March 15th, it is clear that Glenn Close (73, "The Nobel Laureate's Wife") ended up in an elite club. She is only the third person in film history to be nominated for the same role for a golden boy as best and for a golden raspberry as worst actress.

Opinions differ massively about her performance as a weird grandmother in Ron Howard's (67) Netflix film "Hillbilly Elegy". Some saw this as the reason to nominate Close for her eighth Oscar – so far she has not won a single time. She prefers to "honor" the other side with the anti-award.

Before her, this was the case for the first time in 1982 and the last time in 1984. James Coco (1930-1987) was the first actor to make history for his role in "Only When I Laugh" when he received an Oscar and Raspberry nomination for the same role. Two years later, actress Amy Irving (67) also managed this feat with "Yentl". In the end, Coco and Irving couldn't win a single prize. Maybe Close will have more luck at the "Razzies" on April 24th and the Oscars on April 25th. Or bad luck how you take it.
