Globo Lighting from St. Jakob im Rosental has been supplying the whole world with lighting products for 25 years. The company, which mainly produces in China, is one of the largest dealers in Europe.
It went much better than expected,” laughs company founder and managing director Franz Petschnig. “When we started 25 years ago, we already had certain goals, but no big vision. With a bit of luck and thanks to our good employees, success came.” A quarter of a century later, Globo is one of the largest lighting retailers in Europe with annual sales of over 100 million euros and is active in over 60 countries. “We generate 90 percent of our sales through exports – we generate 50 percent in Germany alone,” explains Petschnig. The products were manufactured in China right from the start. Warehouse in St. Jakob expanded by 50 percent There are currently around 185 employees at the headquarters occupied. The warehouse, which will soon be expanded, has space for 33,000 pallets. “We already have the commercial and environmental protection permit – all we need is the building permit, then we will enlarge our warehouse by around 50 percent,” explains Petschnig. “We started the project about a year and a half ago – hopefully we can start construction soon.” Pandemic year – most successful in the company’s history The Rosental-based company is also well positioned in other respects because it covers all price segments with its products – even the pandemic was mastered very well become. “The 2020/21 financial year was the most successful in the company’s history,” confirms the company founder. “Only now are we feeling a certain decline due to inflation and interest rate hikes.” However, thanks to the successful orientation of the model company, this does not pose a problem. “I will definitely continue for a few years,” Franz Petschnig looks optimistically into the future and laughs. “Another 25 years will be difficult – but maybe I’ll come to the office with a walker.”
