The application Gmail for Android
has just crossed a new symbolic milestone.
The application can now claim more than ten billion installations on Android.
The 10 billion downloads for Gmail on Android
The Gmail application has been available for almost 20 years now. First offered on a computer, Gmail was then available in a mobile version, on iOS as well as on Android. The Android version of the application recently posted a new record on the Play Store, with more than 10 billion activations.
So, obviously, it should be remembered that Gmail is installed by default on all Android smartphones. It’s not the first Google app to hit the 10 billion download mark, as YouTube, Maps and Search have already done.
It remains to be seen now which will be the next Google application to be able to proudly exhibit a score of 10 billion downloads on the Play Store. According to Android Police, if Chrome is well placed, Facebook could be the first application outside Google’s ecosystem to join this very closed club. To your bets!
