Gmail, Messages, Drive, Sheet: Google integrates a highly anticipated function into its flagship services

On June 5, the Gemini application made its official arrival in France. And with it, the possibility of taking advantage of it directly from Google Messages a little later in the month. The days pass and the implementation of Google’s artificial intelligence seems to be going smoothly, to the point where the American giant continues to increase its influence. On June 25, Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drive join Google Messages among the applications now compatible with Gemini.

The American firm is just starting to deploy a new side panel dedicated to Gemini, which can, for example, allow you to summarize discussion threads or even write new emails. The tool offers access to proactive prompts, but it will also be possible to ask questions freely, as is the case for most current artificial intelligences.

A plural integration, but paying

The possibilities offered by this integration are plethora. For example, in Google Docs, the Gemini side panel can help you write, summarize text, correct your spelling mistakes or even create content directly based on other files. In Sheets, Gemini can help you organize your data or generate precise formulas. In Gmail, the side panel offers the possibility of summarizing an email that is a little too long, or even suggesting responses to received emails.

For the moment, this integration with many new Google services is reserved for paying Gemini users: it is necessary to have a Google Workspace account with an additional module Gemini Business and Business add-on, Education and Education Premium add-on or be a Google One AI Premium subscriber. There is no doubt, however, that Gemini should make itself more accessible to the general public in the future.
