As mentioned during Google I/O last May, the American giant is currently deploying a new nomadic version of Gmail.

Indeed, if Android users will very quickly be able to taste the joys of “reactions” on Gmail, Google is also thinking of owners of a watch running Wear OS. Thus, the American group has just put online a Gmail application designed to be used on the wrist. Enough to offer some new features that are particularly welcome for the most connected users.

Gmail comes to Wear OS

Intended for all watches powered by Wear OS 4 or Wear OS 3, the new Gmail application allows the user to “ check your emails » without having to take out your smartphone. On your connected watch, you can refresh your inbox, read an email in its entirety, but also switch from one Google account to another.

Added to this are new notifications which will be displayed directly on the watch screen when a message is received. This is a great development for all Wear OS users who also have a Gmail account, as the functionalities were until now (more than) limited.

The new Gmail application for Wear OS is obviously compatible with the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2, but also (among others) with the most recent Samsung watches.
