“GNTM” fans love them, aspiring top models fear them: the obligatory makeover episode of every season. After photographing her models herself as a photographer in the last episode, Heidi Klum, 50, also made a splash in episode six (Thursdays at 8:15 p.m. on ProSieben and on Joyn) for a novelty: As the daughter of a hairdresser, she personally worked on the model’s hairstyles armed with a comb and scissors. But that’s not all: there has never been such an episode ending in 19 years of “Germany’s Next Top Model”. This time the Spanish police decided to end the filming. The accusation: Heidi’s show poses a danger to the airspace over Tenerife.

“Makeover!” – from anticipation to panic

“Makeover” was a shrill cry throughout the model hacienda. And what caused real anticipation for some people caused Lea and the twins Julian and Luca (both 24) to race their hearts and break out in sweats. Top favorite Armin, 27, was also suddenly nervous about his well-groomed hairdryer. And rightly so, as it soon turned out. While he and the twins were among the first male models to be restyled in 19 years of “GNTM”, only four female models were spared the procedure. But that also caused tears for Xenia, 23, who was not taken into account. Grace’s comment was appropriately ironic: “The first season where someone cries because they didn’t get a makeover.”

Men worry about their hair

Before the makeover begins, Heidi surprises her with a confession: her mother was a hairdresser, and as a “guinea pig” she herself suffered often enough from her willingness to experiment. No wonder Heidi clearly enjoyed her role as mistress of haircuts again. And as is so often the case in real life: here too, the lords of creation were more sniveling than the women. While the ladies relaxed and surrendered to the hair transformation, twin Julian cried bitter tears under the impression of bleach on his head. He and his twin brother Luca have gone through life in the same look for 24 years. Heidi wanted to put an end to that. She personally cut Julian’s hair – to his satisfaction, as it turned out after the makeover.

Mirror shock for Armin

Top candidate Armin not only had to endure the most ridicule from the female competition during the makeover. With his razor-short hair, he barely recognized himself in the mirror. The beau still received praise: he now looks more masculine – finally. Then Armin worried about his personal favorite Jana, 25. Her natural brown curls had transformed into golden angel hair in just eight to nine hours. But she wasn’t the only one with a radical change: Alexandra’s, 21, head now glowed a copper red, Lydwine, 21, and Fabienne, 20, proudly wore long-haired wigs over their new braids, while Lea lost most of her mane . What does her long-time boyfriend Daniel think of her blonde bob?

“I would book him”

This time, the impressive Santa Cruz auditorium formed the backdrop for the final fashion show, at the end of which Heidi and guest judge, supermodel Jourdan Dunn, 33, decided who would advance. Prince Marvin, 22, Aldin, 22, Maximilian, 21, and Jermaine were particularly impressive among the boys. “Hot!” said model Jourdan Dunn about the 19-year-old’s charisma. And at Armin’s performance, Heidi blurted out: “I would book him.” Lea opened the women’s show in a breathtaking wedding dress and impressed as one of the best. Her colleagues Xenia and Leoni, 25, however, had difficulty maintaining their presence and personality given the high heels, lavish dresses and the long steps down from the auditorium.

Women’s decision brought about by Spanish police

Among the male models, the path for Franz, 19, and Livingsten, 23, came to an end in this episode. Heidi and Jourdan Dunn also complained about the lack of charisma from candidate Leoni, who also dropped out. Everyone else stayed in the race. This time the decision for the female models took place in fast motion. The reason: During filming, a production employee suddenly interrupted Heidi’s moderation: “The police were here twice. They said they were closing the shop here.” Pilots who were about to land on Tenerife complained about the bright headlights of the “GNTM” production. These posed a danger to the airspace over the Canary Islands. Heidi’s laconic comment on the abrupt end of the episode: “I thought that in 19 years of ‘Germany’s Next Top Model’ I had already experienced everything. But that has really never happened before.” Then all the lights went out – until the next week.
