Dog walk with pitfalls
When it is not raining, taking the dog for a walk is pretty much the nicest thing there is. After all, what is more fun than a long walk, on which you discover new things together and the dog can really let off steam?
Unfortunately, however, many are not aware that there are many dangers to the dog during a harmless walk, which are often only recognized when it is too late. And: Some dog owners don't even take these self-evident considerations into account:
1. Collect dog droppings
If there is a bang between walkers and dog owners, dog feces are often the cause. Sure, it is absolutely no fun to collect the big business and throw it away. And that is precisely why it is of course the dog owner's duty to do the job – because logically, it is even less fun for strangers to clear away the dirt that an unknown pet has left behind. Therefore: take dog bags with you, eyes closed and through! Actually, of course – after all, you don't throw any rubbish into the landscape and just leave it there.
2. Put on the dog leash
Yes, it is of course much more fun when the dog can romp around freely and untied. And of course a dog must be allowed to do so – on the designated dog walking areas and places. But especially in the city crowds the dog belongs on a leash. And not every passer-by is so fond of animals that he is happy about a friendly dog who sniffs at him or even licks him off to seek contact. Of course, you yourself know how nice your own dog is and like to cuddle with him – but can you also expect that from strangers?
3. The "hunt" for fun
No matter whether birds, small animals or even real game: Some dog owners find nothing wrong with letting the natural Jad drive of their beloved run free. At first glance it doesn't matter if the dog "scares" a few animals. Unfortunately, it is often not the case: deer are repeatedly torn by dogs that were actually "only" on a walk. However, this is a tangible offense – which is expensive for the dog owner. So: Better call the dog back.
4. Walkers: Relax!
But not only the dog owners are obliged to be a little more considerate. Even walkers sometimes react exaggeratedly sharply and angrily to dog owners they encounter. Sure, an unknown dog can be a little daunting, especially when it's big. But as long as he is on a leash and does not approach you, there is no need to panic. And even if you notice that an unwelcome taster attack is in the offing: Usually the situation can be resolved with a step back and a friendly, smiling note to the dog owner – without breaking an argument straight away!
