Goalkeeping coach leaves – Mario Krevatin hung on for 24 years

Mario Krevatin, the goalkeeping coach from HC Hard, stops. Handball has always played a major role in the 55-year-old’s life. You’d think that handball held him tight, grabbed him again and again.

After 19 years in handball goals, Mario Krevatin had had enough in the summer of 1997 and ended his active career with the second division club TS Dornbirn. “A few months later, Roland Breakfast called me and asked if I could help out during Bregenz training,” says the Hohenems resident. It didn’t take long and the detective at the time made his debut in the House of Lords at the age of 32. The goalkeeper won two championship titles with the Festspielstadt team and won the cup three times. In 2003 it was over again.

But the phone rang again. “Head coach Frank Bergemann asked me to stay in Hard for one more season because the then two-man goalie Wolfgang Filzwieser had to join the army.” Mario Krevatin moved into the Champions League with the Red Devils in the late autumn of his career. At the age of 40 he finally hung up his handball shoes and passed on his knowledge as a goalkeeper coach.

Mario Krevatin was among eight head coaches. “I worked intensively with the goalkeepers two to three times a week. The psychological aspect was very important to me. I was there at every game and wrote down all of the opponent’s throws. Our goalies were optimally prepared together with the video analyzes. They knew every thrower’s favorite corner. “

After 18 years and his sixth championship title in Hard, the third attempt is now over. In addition to his job at the Hohenems City Police, the 55-year-old now has more time for his family and hobbies.
