God of War Ragnarök: Changing the appearance of his equipment will be possible

It will take dozens of hours at a minimum to complete God of War Ragnarök, and it is always unpleasant to do so by looking like a poor raggedy rather than the god of war that we are supposed to embody.

Transmogrification on the agenda

During a question-and-answer session on the Official Santa Monica Studio Discord, lead combat designer Mihir Sheth confirmed that the game does include a transmog system. If the term does not speak to you, know that it implies being able to equip the piece of equipment of your choice, with the statistics and the bonuses that you prefer, while making it look like another piece of armor. .

Like its predecessor, God of War offers to forge many pieces of armor, then to improve them, in order to favor different styles of play, or to adapt to various situations. There are different styles, some show off Kratos’ muscular body, not covering much. Others look more like heavy, ornate armor, for example, for a bit more chivalrous look. It also gives the illusion of being better protected.

These transmog options shouldn’t apply to weapons, for obvious game mechanics reasons. Having the Leviathan Ax behave like Chaos Blades would be unsettling to say the least.

No photo mode on release

What is more surprising is the absence of a mode present in more and more games, in particular on Playstation 5, the famous photo mode. It allows you to create pretty wallpapers or to stage your virtual exploits in a beautiful way. It’s also a natural complement to transmogrification, since giving Kratos the class with a nice combination of armor pieces also makes you want to share the result with your friends. But as in the previous game, he will not be present when the game is released on November 9 on PS4 and PS5. We’ll have to wait for an update.
