God of War continues the series tradition of pushing console hardware to its limits with each installment. The new title Ragnarök takes full advantage of Sony’s latest console, the PS5 to deliver a staggering level of performance, but the Santa Monica developers have not forgotten the older generations, however.

Our colleagues from GameSpot have published a comparison video on their YouTube channel, which reveals all the differences between the PS4 version and the PS5 version. The PS4 Pro has unfortunately not been included, but this gives us a better idea of the evolution that players can expect when switching to the latest generation of consoles.

The game is sublime on the PS5, but the PS4 still has it in its belly

In its video, GameSpot compares the PS4 version in 1080p to the PS5 version in 4K with the quality mode. This is one of the multiple graphics modes available on Sony’s title. Several sequences are proposed, whether they are fights, or even cutscenes.

As you can see in the video below, the game looks simply stunning on the PS5, and clearly shows what the console is capable of. Whether in terms of lighting or particle effects, Sony really offers us a very successful game in terms of graphics.

While one would think that the PS4 of 2013 could not support such a title, it is not so. The Santa Monica studio has presumably very well optimized his game. The PS4 version therefore has little to envy to that of the new generation. We notice some differences in the lighting, or even in the details like on the beard or the clothes of Kratosbut this version will delight fans of the franchise.

Waiting for the release of God of War Ragnarök on November 9thwe advise you to read our complete test of the game.
