Who to succeed Karim Benzema? Before being officially awarded on Monday evening, the Golden Ball made a detour on Friday to the premises of Europe 1 where it was presented by Marc Las, editorial director of La Chaîne L’Équipe. The prestigious 12kg trophy, estimated at nearly 13,000 euros, then took its place in The Legends Studiopiloted by Jacques Vendroux from Friday to Sunday between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Four French people among the nominees

The ceremony, which will reward the 2023 winner, will therefore take place on Monday at the Théâtre du Châtelet, in Paris. It will begin shortly before 8 p.m. and will be broadcast live on La Chaîne L’Équipe. Lionel Messi, already awarded seven times and winner of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with Argentina, is the favorite. But the formidable Norwegian scorer Erling Haaland, winner of the Champions League with Manchester City, or even Kylian Mbappé, top scorer in the last World Cup, also present solid arguments.

In total, four French people are among the nominees. Mbappé, therefore, but also the title holder, Karim Benzema, as well as Antoine Griezmann and the neo-Parisian Randal Kolo Muani. The vote falls to an audience of 100 journalists, representing the top 100 countries in the Fifa rankings.
