Big gowns, flashes and numerous stars: the 2024 red carpet season has officially begun with the Golden Globes. And it wasn’t just the gowns that were amazing, the stars’ beauty looks were also impressive. You can find out here which trends have emerged and what we are immediately following.

The annual award ceremony Golden Globe Awards marks the start of the festival season. On January 7, 2024, everyone is looking forward to Beverly Hills where the red carpet will be rolled out. What will the stars wear? What hairstyles have they chosen and what makeup looks do they use? As every year, small micro-trends emerge that can also be exciting for us.

Golden Globes Beauty Trends: Everyone loves bows

Who would have thought that the bow trend from social media would make its way onto the red carpet. The girly, playful hair accessory in various sizes was all the rage on the red carpet. We’ve seen the trend on Rachel Brosnahan, Kate Beckinsale and Allison Williams, who have all interpreted it differently. There are no limits when it comes to loops. Whether gift ribbon, large, small or colorful: the small bow gives every look an elegant touch – perfect for the red carpet.

The distinguished paleness is back

While it has been common practice for years to visit the tanning studio before an awards ceremony to get a seamless Hollywood tan, in 2024 there seems to be a move away from the “California look”. The aristocratic pallor is back in – at least that’s what you might think if you look at the pictures from the Golden Globes red carpet. Emma Stone, Elizabeth Debicki, Jennifer Lawrence, Christina Ricci and Sarah Rafferty, to name just a few, have deliberately avoided using self-tanning showers. They are much more into their light winter complexion, which looks excellent with the delicate colors of their clothes.

More naturalness and less show

The pale complexion isn’t the only change in Golden Globes beauty looks. Hair extensions, elaborate updos and fake lashes are hard to find on the red carpet. We could see a similar development on TikTok and Instagram as early as 2023. The “Clean Girl” aesthetic is gradually replacing hard contouring, dark smokey eyes and overpainted lips. People want to look younger with a fresh, natural look, which is why blush is coming back to the fore, bronzer is being used more and more lightly and make-up is being replaced by delicate powder. The right skin care is becoming more and more important in this trend as the skin is covered less. The same applies to the stars in the new year: more creams instead of make-up.

The side parting conquers the Golden Globes 2024

While the middle parting clearly dominated the 2023 catwalks, the side parting is at the forefront during the festival season. This choice is not surprising as it is the more elegant option. Whether styled straight, like Jennifer Lawrence, or in big waves, like Jennifer Lopez, the side parting looks instantly styled without having to do an elaborate hairstyle. The narrower side is simply placed back so that the fuller part can fall smoothly forward.

While the cozy middle part is particularly popular on the world’s catwalks, the side parting is much more popular at the Golden Globes.

One trend remains: Rosé Glam

In the last festival season, make-up artists were inspired by series like “Bridgerton” or the “Balletcore” trend. Soft pink and red tones suddenly landed not only on the lips and cheeks, but also on the décolleté and eyes. At this year’s Golden Globes, the shades are used more sparingly, but are clearly visible on the cheeks and lips. The Rosé Glam has subordinated itself to the natural look and has been reinterpreted for 2024.
