good and bad news for Orange Bank customers

Orange Bank customers who do not make at least one monthly payment or withdrawal will be charged five euros per month from April 18, compared to two euros currently.

Bad news for Orange Bank customers. The online bank has just published its new fee schedule applicable from April 18. And while the bank took two euros a month from account maintenance fees for its customers who did not make at least one payment or a withdrawal in the month (with their card or with the mobile payment service), these costs will increase to five euros.

Note, however, that these costs only apply to customers who have a Standard card. These costs are therefore not billed to holders of the Premium card, the Premium Pack offer, or the offer intended for customers in a financially fragile situation.

A preferential interest rate on the savings account

But Orange Bank customers can also rejoice, as there has also been some good news recently. Thus, since February 16, the online bank provides for its customers holding a premium card a preferential interest rate set at 1.5% for its Orange Bank savings account. And holders of a Premium Pack even see this rate drop to 2% against 0.60% for the standard rate.

Credit Agricole, BNP Paribas or Socit Generale, who will take over Orange Bank?

As a reminder, Orange Bank claims 2.6 million customers in France and Spain. But online banking is coming out of a complicated year in 2022, since it recorded a record loss of 200 million euros over the past year.

Thus, last November, Stephane Vallois, new CEO of Orange Bank, explained that he had mandated the management company Lazard to find a new strategic partner who would be a lever of acceleration for the bank. Socit Generale, Crédit Agricole and BNP Paribas have shown interest in taking over Orange Bank.
