Old-fashioned role-playing games have been all the rage in recent yearsfor the greatest pleasure of Square Enixwho can bring out his old ones Final Fantasy but also publish new games. This is what he did with Bravely Default IIdevelopped by Claytechworks And Team Asano and which is currently on sale.
Bravely Default II is sold €14.99 at Fnac in its physical Nintendo Switch versiona very small price for this RPG of which here is the presentation:
A flamboyant universe… with a fragile balance: floods, rising temperatures… natural disasters follow one another dramatically on the continent of Excilliant. The cause ? The disappearance of the four Crystals which govern the balance of this universe. To revive hope and restore order between the elements, there is only one solution: find the missing Crystals!
Discover the Heroes of Light! Seth, a young sailor, wakes up on a beach with no memories. As he regains his senses, he meets Princess Gloria whose family has protected the Crystals for generations. Destiny will put them on the path of Elvis, a scholar in search of information on strange magical artifacts, asterisks, as well as Adèle, a young mercenary in search of her sister. It is together that these strong personalities can become the Heroes of the Light.
Fights that do not lack rhythm, between tradition and modernity :
- Combat is turn-based: characters and enemies attack one after the other using classic attacks, magical powers or special techniques associated with their fighting style.
- In true RPG fashion, your fighters gain experience by participating in each fight, allowing them to increase their stats and learn new skills.
- The “Brave/Default” system is the “twist” that gives all the flavor to the fights. Using your “Brave points” allows you to launch several attacks in the same turn but will put you in difficulty in subsequent turns with a points deficit and you will not be able to attack. You can also opt for a more defensive posture by switching to “Default” mode during which you suffer less damage and can accumulate your “Brave points”… Ideal for reducing the impact of an enemy’s special attack and being able to launch several devastating attacks in subsequent turns.
- Asterisks are magical artifacts that allow members of your team to access various combat classes: warrior, white mage, thief… It’s up to you to create a balanced team to be able to face all situations. Each class offers you advantages in combat but also some disadvantages. Each hero can be equipped with a primary and a secondary Asterisk. Test them out and combine classes to create the ultimate team!
